Commemorating the Battle of Nui Le
50 years after Australia’s last offensive operation in the Vietnam War, a new remembrance garden has been dedicated in Brisbane.
A small service was hosted by the Brisbane City Council earlier this week in the garden across from Guyatt Park in St Lucia. A plaque commemorating the Battle of Nui Le was unveiled. The plaque includes the names of the servicemen who were tragically killed during Operation Ivanhoe and the Battle of Nui Le.
This new reflective space commemorates the service and sacrifice of all those who served in Operation Ivanhoe.
Six Australians were killed in this final offensive action in Vietnam, and 29 Australians and 1 New Zealander were wounded.
This garden stands as a living memorial to all those who served and the ongoing impact of the Vietnam War on veterans and their families.
