Occasionally politicians need to be reminded war comes at a human cost

In political terms, Australians are fully engaged in what Churchill might have described The Phoney War.

It’s nonetheless vicious for all that because hell hath no fury like a cornered politician under threat.

Sadly, there’s a lot of phonies in Australian politics at the moments, not all of them in the fringe parties which might at first blush seem their natural habitat.
