A Church Concert in Barcelona – Simply Beautiful
This really is beautiful. Strange how this particular hymn brings such emotional response, no matter who the performer, or what the language, or even when there is no lyric at all. Here the performer is Spanish, the music includes Irish bagpipes, and the language is Catalan, and it makes goosebumps still! That’s the wonder of the power. This song is performed in The Sagrada Familia Expiatory Church in Barcelona, Spain, and is a remarkable performance. It also gives you a look inside the Church designed by the Famed Architect Antonio Gaudi. It is spectacular and very close to being finished and has been under construction for almost 125 years. It may be that last great cathedral built for any Christian faith. The decor is fantastic.
Even more interesting is that the song is being sung in Catalan. This is the language of the “Moors” or Muslims and it is being sung in a Catholic church. Also great to see and hear Gaudi’s Masterpiece Cathedral… Sacred, awesome, inspirational & unbelievable!
Concert held at the Sagrada Familia Church in Barcelona, in memory of the victims of terrorism.
I have to be quite honest this is an outstanding feature in Barcelona, however some of the carvings and so forth remind me of the Star wars series. No wonder it took 200 odd years for Gaudi’ (spelling) dreams to come to fruition. I liked it but it is a monstrosity in Barcelona. Prepared to be abused am I.
